Let’s take a closer look at why this is important and how it might look. The Value Exchange Happy Path Often, companies require users to fit certain criteria to be eligible for the simplest outcome. I’ve been playing with my new iPhone X for the past week and I absolutely love it. What an amazing device! TechEd Las Vegas – what I learned & what I saw…

In my new role at SAP, I am part of the team that puts together the amazing SAP TechEd events. This past week I had the great pleasure of kicking off TechEd Las Vegas (next week it will be TechEd Amsterdam, and early December we’ll be in India for TechEd Bangalore…) I can’t possibly do this tremendous event justice in one short blog post (hundreds of hours of educational content, 6500 live attendees, over 20,000 online, the events reach a total of over 200,000) and many others have posted their own thoughts and personal highlights. However, I would like to share a couple of small, but very interesting “Ah-HA!” moments I experienced over the course of the event – one of the things that makes attending great conferences and speaking with smart people such a joy. Updating Banners the Smart Way

Below you will find the first tip (in the long series to come). Very few banner-related problems can compete for badness with outdated affiliate program creatives. Situations that call for a refresh of a brand’s affiliate creative inventory range from changes in customer promotions to rebranding, and contain dozens of other scenarios in-between. Why You Should Care Mismatches between the message carried by an old banner (which an affiliate partner once selected from a brand’s creative inventory) and the actual marketing message that the brand’s landing page conveys can carry far-reaching negative consequences. Comparing Email Subscribers from Pop-Ups vs. Other Methods

I clicked through to your site because of the title .. Notice I didn’t subscribe [LOL] — *couldn’t resist* We’ve already had this sort of discussion — If memory serves, back in 2003-04 there was a big debate over whether or not Browsers should be equipped with Pop-Up Blockers. Publishers were literally running off the rails with these things at the time and folks over at Microsoft, Netscape and the fledgling Mozilla started to take a long hard look at whatever options were available to them at the time. Sure — There was the usual back and forth going on about it with each camp, for, and against, making claims to favor their respective sides. Big Search also got involved. Jeeves, Teoma, Alta Vista, and even the fledgling Google got involved to various degrees on the matter. It’s sort of ironic how it was Search that fired the first salvo […]

FTC COPPA Security Guidelines – High Paying Affiliate Programs

The Federal Trade Commission recently announced a settlement with VTech Electronics Limited and its U.S. subsidiary in the FTC’s first case involving Internet-connected toys. In short, VTech had been charged with violating the FTC Act and the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act by collecting personal information from children without providing direct notice and obtaining verifiable parental consent, as well as failing to properly secure the data it collected. The FTC said the information was stored so that kids’ information was linked to their parents’ information. For example, that meant that if a child had submitted a photo, the hacker could have found that photo, along with the child’s home address. According to the complaint, VTech didn’t know that personal information had been copied from its network until the company was contacted by a journalist. The FTC has gone to great lengths to explain the basics of what businesses must do […]
