Elon Musks Teases New Teslas That Talk

External speakers will allow drivers to talk to pedestrians without opening a window, or play pre-recorded clips to passers-by. January 13, 2020 2 min read This story originally appeared on PC Mag Every so often, Elon Musk tweets about a new Tesla feature we never thought we needed, and he’s just done it again. Tesla is adding the ability to talk to pedestrians from inside its vehicles without needing to open a window. Teslas will soon talk to people if you want. This is real. pic.twitter.com/8AJdERX5qa — Buff Mage (@elonmusk) January 12, 2020 As Engadget reports, the new feature relies on the external speakers Tesla is adding to its vehicles to comply with European and US artificial sound regulations. Those sounds are required to allow pedestrians to hear electric vehicles traveling at slow speeds. A speaker can be used for lots of different types of audio, though, so why not voice, […]

Elon Musk Did a Dad-Dance Striptease at Tesla’s New Factory

January 7, 2020 2 min read This story originally appeared on Business Insider If you need something to startle you awake this morning, look no further: Tesla CEO Elon Musk has posted footage of himself stripteasing, dad-style, outside Tesla’s new Shanghai Gigafactory. Taking to Twitter on Tuesday, the South African-born entrepreneur posted a short clip of himself dancing and taking off some of his clothes in front of a seemingly enthusiastic audience of employees, officials, and journalists. Getting into his stride, Musk takes off his jacket before waving his limbs around with a grin. In his tweet, he describes his moves as “NSFW” — not suitable for work. What is Enterprise Architecture? A Guide

A silo is by definition restrictive. Literal silos keep grain or other loose objects from spilling out into the world. And they restrict access. In the business world, a silo is often a bad thing. It means one department isn’t communicating with another. And each department would rather work on their own than work with others. Siloed departments can be toxic. They often end in turf wars and possible terminations. You don’t want your agency or business to fall into the silo trap. But how do you get departments to work together? Simple, enterprise architecture. This is the study and implementation of how to execute business strategies. And you can hire enterprise architects to help keep your organization from getting siloed. Here’s how that works. 1. There Are Four Types of Enterprise Architecture Business architecture is a near ancient art. We’ve had years to perfect and categorize the many different […]

Elon Musk’s Neuralink Hopes to Put Sensors in Human Brains Next Year

A ‘sewing machine-like’ robot implants threads directly into the brain. July 17, 2019 4 min read This story originally appeared on Engadget While we waited for Neuralink to present the progress it’s made over the last couple of years in brain-computer interface technology, the New York Times and Bloomberg published information from an early briefing and it’s stuff that’s straight out of science fiction. The Elon Musk-backed company claims its “sewing machine-like” robot will be able to implant threads deep into a human brain. The results so far come from testing on lab rats implanted with as many as 1,500 electrodes, which, everyone should be warned, may or may not transfer smoothly to work on humans. If it does work, Neuralink says its intention for the technology at first is to do things like help amputees, or restore the ability to see, talk and listen. Of course, as Elon has said previously, he believes that connecting our brains […]

PewDiePie’s Trick to Getting More Ad Revenue on YouTube Felix Arvid Ulf Kjellberg AKA PewDiePie was the most subscribed to YouTuber in the world. He’s now third. And he’s rich. His estimated monthly earnings range anywhere between $77 thousand a month to $1.2 million. That number isn’t exact because we don’t know what his contract is with YouTube, what he earns from promotions, or exactly how much each ad is worth on his channel. But he has chosen to reveal one little tidbit about how he earns so much on YouTube. Here’s his trick. Talk About Expensive Things If you advertise on YouTube, it isn’t exactly a science. Google places your ads in videos based on some mysterious set of algorithms. You tell YouTube what your audience is and what your keywords are and they do the rest. Witnesses reported that Musk pushed and yelled at the employee. April 8, 2019 2 min read This story originally appeared on Engadget Tesla’s board investigated a physical altercation between CEO Elon Musk and a former employee last September. The incident is the latest in a string of reports of the company’s CEO angrily yelling and firing employees. The incident in question occurred when a senior employee returned to the company’s Fremont delivery hub facility the day after turning in their resignation to tie up loose ends and say goodbye to colleagues according to Bloomberg. According to witnesses that requested anonymity from Bloomberg for fear of retribution, Musk yelled and told the employee to leave. These Three Businesses Are Marketing in Unusual Ways

You’re walking down the street and suddenly a zombie rises up out of the sewer. You scream, throw your backpack at the thing and begin sprinting down the street. And then someone cries out, “Watch The Walking Dead this week.” You stop, turn around, and see the zombie waving at you and smiling. You walk back and it hands you your bag. You were just a victim. A victim of gorilla marketing. Businesses employ interesting tactics to get leads and customers to buy all the time. AMC employed similar tactics to the above scenario in NYC. But what are smaller companies doing to uniquely get their customer’s attention? Here are a few businesses doing something different in their marketing. 1. ClimbOnline’s Podcast Podcasts began as an expansion to RSS feeds back in 2000. But they didn’t gain prominence until 2003. With tech advances and the invention of the smartphone, podcasts […]

Elon Musk’s Pentagon Security Clearance Is Under Review Over Marijuana Use

Smoking pot on the ‘Joe Rogan Experience’ last year has had many consequences. March 8, 2019 2 min read This story originally appeared on PCMag Elon Musk holds a secret-level clearance with the U.S. government due to his role as founder and CEO of SpaceX, but it has been revealed that his clearance is currently under review at the Pentagon after Musk smoked marijuana last September. As Bloomberg reports, back in September, Musk appeared on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast in California and proceeded to smoke marijuana during the recording. Although marijuana has been decriminalized in a number of states, it remains illegal for federal employees or contractors with security clearance to use it. In order to work for the government, which Musk does by way of SpaceX being a government contractor, a Standard Form 86 (SF 86) needs to be completed. This allows the government to collect information for background […]

SEC Says Elon Musk Violated Settlement With Tweet

It wants to hold Musk in contempt for posting Tesla production claims. February 26, 2019 2 min read This story originally appeared on Engadget Elon Musk might be in hot water with regulators mere months after he reached a settlement over a financially relevant Twitter post. The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has asked a judge to hold Elon Musk in contempt for allegedly violating the settlement by tweeting that Tesla would make “around 500k” cars in 2019. Musk was supposed to get approval from Tesla before social network posts that would include vital info, but the SEC claimed he directly shared “inaccurate and material” data with more than 24 million people. We’ve asked Tesla if it can comment, although Musk claimed in December that the SEC couldn’t stop him from posting what he wanted unless there was a “probability of causing a movement in the stock.” If the judge does hold Musk in contempt, it won’t bode […]

Elon Musk Asks Judge to Toss ‘Pedo Guy’ Defamation Lawsuit

December 28, 2018 2 min read This story originally appeared on Engadget Elon Musk is hoping to end the U.S. lawsuit over his “pedo guy” statements against British cave diver Vernon Unsworth before it gets started. His attorneys have filed a motion to dismiss the case on the grounds that his insults weren’t serious and thus were protected free speech in the U.S. This was just a “schoolyard spat,” Musk’s attorneys said. They contended that Twitter was a place where you could “expect to read opinions, not facts,” and thus that no one could realistically assume Musk was telling the truth. Unsworth’s attorney rejected the claims in a statement to The Guardian. The argument would “effectively doom all lawsuits” over defamation, and that Musk’s dismissal points were “novel but inaccurate.” Related: What’s Happening on The Entrepreneur Index Right Now It’s not clear how the judge will respond to the dismissal request, although it might not work in Musk’s […]

Elon Musk Says There’s a ’70 Percent’ Chance He’ll Move to Mars

Recent breakthroughs could make it realistic. November 26, 2018 2 min read This story originally appeared on Engadget Elon Musk has talked about personally heading to Mars before, but how likely is he to make the trip, really? Well, he just put a number on it. In an interview for the Axios on HBO documentary series, Musk said there was a “70 percent” chance he’ll go to Mars. There have been a “recent number of breakthroughs” that have made it possible, he said. And as he hinted before, it’d likely be a one-way trip — he expects to “move there.” The executive also rejected the idea that traveling to Mars could be an “escape hatch for the rich” in its current form. He noted that an ad for going to Mars would be “like Shackleton’s ad for going to the Antarctic,” which (though likely not real) made clear how dangerous and the South Pole […]

Elon Musk Walks Full Length of His Boring L.A. Tunnel

According to Musk, it’s ‘disturbingly long,’ but things look on track for it to open on Dec. 10. In reality, we’re getting 2 miles of tunnel and hopefully a good idea of whether this can really work as an alternative method of transportation. November 5, 2018 2 min read This story originally appeared on PCMag Would you believe it has been less than a year since Elon Musk shared a map of his proposed L.A. tunnel network? That was in Dec. 2017 and Musk’s Boring Company was trying to get a permit to build the first phase of the network. Jump forward to Nov. 3 and Musk posted a video of his walk down the tunnel as a tweet. pic.twitter.com/xGJ4Bc6HpL — Elon Musk (@elonmusk) November 3, 2018 Phase I of the tunnel is meant to extend 6.5 miles from West L.A. through Culver City. Elon Musk Is Basically the Villain of the ‘Venom’ Movie

The Tesla and SpaceX founder inspired Riz Ahmed’s character in the superhero film. October 4, 2018 2 min read Elon Musk was famously an inspiration for Robert Downey Jr.’s take on Iron Man alter ego Tony Stark. Now, the billionaire is also the muse for a much more villainous comic book character. In the new Sony film Venom, one of Spider-Man’s most famous rivals, Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy) merges with an alien symbiote and squares off against Carlton Drake, a tech billionaire who uses his fortune to explore space. Sound familiar? Related: Elon Musk’s $20 Million Settlement for Fraud Charges Add to an Increasingly Bizarre Year for the Billionaire It did to critics who have seen the movie, who immediately pointed to the character’s similarities to Musk. Fraud Charges Against Elon Musk Add to an Increasingly Bizarre Year for the Billionaire

Erratic, off-the-cuff online statements by key figures aren’t rare these days, but a new SEC complaint alleges the Tesla CEO took things too far. September 28, 2018 6 min read For Elon Musk, the morning of Aug. 7, 2018, started out like any other. The Tesla CEO woke up, worked out and hopped in the driver’s seat of one of his electric cars. But at 9:48 a.m., while en route to the airport, Musk typed out a now-infamous tweet that sent the markets reeling: “Am considering taking Tesla private at $420. Funding secured.” In the seven weeks since that fateful Tuesday, Musk’s message has resulted in a company board review, a deluge of online speculation and, as of Thursday, fraud charges filed by the SEC. But despite the gravity of the complaint — which seeks to bar Musk from serving as an officer or director of any public company in […]

Elon Musk Takes Tesla One Toke Over the Line

Tesla stock dropped precipitously after Musk inhaled once on a livestreamed podcast. September 7, 2018 3 min read The cost of marijuana has plummeted in recent years, except if you’re Elon Musk. The famous and famously troubled entrepreneur took one hit from a joint and paid for it with a big drop in the value of Tesla stock. It didn’t help that Musk’s broadcasted toke coincided with news that Tesla’s chief of human resources and the chief accounting officer, hired just a month ago, quit on the same day. Musk spent two hours and 30 minutes on Joe Rogan’s podcast talking with obvious sincerity about the difficulties running Tesla, speculating on a hard-to-imagine future of humans interfacing with artificial intelligence, discoursing on the increasing dangers of climate change and the urgency of transitioning rapidly to renewable energy, but all anyone has heard about the show is that Musk smoked pot. Elon Musk Is Sounding Very Unhappy and Assumes His Life Will Get Worse

The entrepreneurial icon has gone on the record about his personal problems and his unwillingness, or perhaps helplessness, to solve them. August 17, 2018 5 min read In the pantheon of entrepreneurial tales of success, Elon Musk is ranked with Edison and Ford, but the billionaire is unhappy with the price he’s paid for his pedestal. In an interview with The New York Times that is candid to the point of vulnerability, Musk was repeatedly at the verge of tears describing a self-enslavement he admits is unhealthy but which he has no intention of altering. The interview comes in the wake of Musk’s bombshell tweet on Aug. 7, in which he offhandedly said he had “funding secured” to buy back shares of Tesla for $420 and take the publicly-traded company private. The unvetted tweet, issued when markets were open, sent Tesla shares soaring but also triggered an investigation by the Securities Exchange Commission […]

Elon Musk Said He Will Pay for Home Water Filters in Flint

The SpaceX and Tesla CEO will address ‘outliers’ that stll don’t meet FDA standards. July 12, 2018 3 min read This story originally appeared on Engadget Four years ago, the Flint water crisis began when officials switched its source from Lake Huron to the Flint River. Its more corrosive water caused dangerous levels of lead from old pipes to leach into the city’s drinking water, poisoning residents. Now, after fighting with officials just to get the problem recognized in 2015, many residents still don’t trust the city’s tap water. Into the fray steps Elon Musk, fresh off of his submarine-building exploits, responding to a tweet with this promise “Please consider this a commitment that I will fund fixing the water in any house in Flint that has water contamination above FDA levels. No kidding.” Please consider this a commitment that I will fund fixing the water in any house in Flint that has water […]

Elon Musk Is Sending Teams to Assist With the Thailand Cave Rescue

It’s hoped his resources could save the boys from months spent underground. July 6, 2018 2 min read This story originally appeared on Engadget Elon Musk has offered assistance in the rescue of the boys’ soccer team trapped in a cave in Thailand. Engineers from SpaceX and The Boring Company will travel to the country on Saturday to help with what is becoming an increasingly perilous rescue effort. As CNN reports, conditions are becoming life-threatening, with a former navy diver involved in the operation losing his life after a sudden drop in oxygen levels underground. According to Musk, technicians may be able to utilize a Tesla-made battery pack to increase the pump rate of water out of the cave. He also discussed the possibility of inserting a nylon tube into the cave to fill it with air, “like a bouncy castle.” In a tweet, he said he was “happy to help if there is a way to do so.” […]
